Professor Steven Haberman

Professor Steven Haberman is Professor of Actuarial Science and the Dean of the School of Mathematics at City University. He graduated in mathematics from the University of Cambridge and obtained his PhD in actuarial science from City University. He was recently awarded a DSc by City University for his published research on pensions modelling. Prior to his appointment at City University, he worked for Prudential Assurance and has worked on secondment at the Government Actuary’s Department. He has been a member of the Council of the Institute of Actuaries. He has written papers on a wide range of topics, including mortality and morbidity models and pensions modelling and mathematics. His papers have won research prizes from the Institute of Actuaries. He is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Actuarial Practice and Decisions in Economics and Finance. He is co-author of two recent books: ‘Modern Actuarial Theory and Practice’ and ‘Actuarial Models for Disability Insurance’, published by CRC Press.
